So this is the 3rd vauxhall that I had to work on recently where the symptoms and issues are same or very similar. nnThis started off with a flat battery, nWhich was diagnosed by me and replaced by the customer to save them some cash.nnAfter that I was called back for the 2nd time where the car decided to have over heating issues, idling and few other issues. nnSo tested the coolant system and found few things wrong with it.nnFirst of all the previous mechanic that they have been using for years had told the customer to use water only in the cooling system 😡nThis is a massive no no!nThere are many reasons why the manufacturer has recommended to use antifreeze in your cooling system. nOne of the obvious ones is the fact that it stops the coolant from freezing when it is really cold in the winter!nn2nd issue I found was that a serious leak on the side of the engine which was a part called coolant flange which is strange name for something that looks more like a Thermostat housing!nRegardless new one was ordered and fitted together with new hose that was broken with fresh coolant. nnSo I don't understand why vauxhall designers decided to install the main ecu (electronic brain) of the car literally next to the coolant expansion tank vent pipe.nnNot if but when you get over heating the first thing to get damaged is the ecu 😳nnI recommend for my customers with any vauxhall that has this setup to simply install a correct diameter hose around 600mm long onto the vent hose to ever stop this from happening. nnSo now we had to send off the ecu for testing to ACtronics LTD for testing as I believe this ecu has a lot of water damage inside it.nnDue to these issues which include, idling, cooling fan running all the time, disconnected cooling fan by previous mechanic, mass airflow sensor fault codes due to ecu issues...nnThe valve cover gasket is also a common issue on these cars which will also be replaced as soon as I sort out the other issues......
