ℹ️ A customer of ours with a 2012 Ford Focus 1.6tdci with 96k miles - booked in with us to get it assessed and then clean up the engine for the road ahead. 🔎 Initial inspection showed nothing of concern, but a low level rumble in the background, fluffy low end revs due to the carbon present, plus a tell tale fume smell and free breathing exhaust. 💻 Initial diagnostics showed 2 codes for injectors, however... 📊 Live data monitoring showed all data within spec. Balanced injectors, low DPF pressures and content, good operating temps and healthy turbo pressures. ❗Looks like the short journeys had caused the carbon build up and low rev response gremlin. 👨‍🔧 On with the clean and the engine soon smoothed out and quietened down and by the end it was quieter, smooth and responsive again. ℹ️ they can now get the DPF replaced, remapped again and replace the thermostat to get this running like it should. 🌐...

When should a cambelt be renewed?

The cambelt should be replaced on either a period of time or mileage/distance covered basis; depending on your vehicle it is normally every 4-5 years or 60,000 miles as an example. It is best to call a member of our team on 01522 500745 to discuss.

What is a Minor Service?

A Minor service is an Oil and Filter change, Full VHC (Vehicle health check), all fluids topped up, hinges and door latches lubricated, Hoover and wash

What is an Interim Service?

An Interim service is an Oil and Oil Filter change, Pollen Filter change, Full VHC (Vehicle health check), all fluids topped up, hinges and door latches lubricated, Hoover and wash

What is a Long Life Service?

Long Life servicing is for people covering higher mileage per year; your vehicle will either require a 1st Long Life or 2nd Long Life service. If you are cover over 12,000 miles per year it would be best to be put your vehicle on a Long Life service schedule.

What parts should be replaced at certain intervals?

Each service interval does involve different parts, while we are undertaking the VHC or an MOT inspection we check for damage, excessive play in moving parts e.g. wheel bearings, track rod ends and general wear and tear of the vehicle. Only parts changed will be those required in the service, you will be contacted for approval if any further issues are found. Please feel free to contact a member of the LVS team if you are unsure on what service is required.
