Please check out the above photo and notice that the outer brake pad had completely disappeared, the most frightening aspect with this photo is what could have happened to the driver of this Renault Master van had he had been travelling at speed when this incident happened. The outer brake pad on this side had completely worn through the pad lining and metal backing which eventually caused the caliper piston to pop out and the brake pedal went straight to the floor with all the brake fluid dispersing from the caliper, this driver was lucky in that when this happened he was coming to a junction, had this had happened at speed this would have been deadly. The point to be made here is how important it is to get your vehicle serviced regularly by a competent mechanic or garage, this vehicle was being looked after by a local garage to them and well I think they have lost a customer now. I make it a mission to explain to my customers the issues I find and in this instance I had some words with the driver about loud music being played in his cab because he did not hear the noises the brakes would have been making until the last minute when eventually he very nearly killed himself, by the way I am extremely serious about that last comment and the driver was told this as well.
