I was called to a job yesterday to repair a punctured tyre. When I got there I found the offending object and, luckily it was bang in the middle of the tyre making it a straight forward repair for just £20. However when I took the tyre off the rim, I found that the tyre was completely perished on the inside, with the cord showing and a handfuls of rubber powder. My customer had got a punctured tyre and driven just a few hundred yards to the garage to put air in the tyre to get him home. This very short distance driving on a flat tyre is enough to completely ruin the tyre making it unsafe to repair. Even more unfortunately, the tyre was a whopping 325/35/R22 Continental Sport Contact 5p MO tyre and believe me these tyres are not cheap. In fact they are crazy expensive. If you ever get a flat tyre, try your very best not to drive on it at all. Even a few hundred yards will make the tyre unrepairable and forcing you to buy a new one, even if the original puncture could have been repaired. My customer bit the bullet and changed his tyre for a brand new Continental. Because when you are driving in a Mercedes GLE43 only the best will do. But I wager he wishes he hadn't driven on it and I had repaired the original tyre...
