DSG Mechatonic Repairs. The DSG 7 speed is a very commonly found gearbox with failure for vehicles built between 2007 – date fitted with the DQ200 Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) a common issue. This is found mainly on 1.6TDi and below and 1.4TSi and below siezed engine vehicles. The most commonly reported symptom is a complete loss of drive power due to the vehicle not being able to select any gears, this will cause the EPC light to become illuminated and the gear symbols will continually flash on the instrument panel. Sometimes the main 30-amp fuse will have blown and generally if you try to replace the fuse it will go again. This is normally due to the transmission control unit (TCU) having burned out.
