Have this Lovely mini clubman in for repairs currently, it's now been with us for some time.nnThe car is suffering from an oil leak and a list of other small jobs just to generally finish the car off to a better standard.nnWell we thought we would look at fitting the switches first, and after removing the dash, heater matrix etc we stumbled across lots of less than professional wiring. Wires have been cut and not correctly isolated at all, see the attached photos for a better idea of the standard of wiring!nnWe removed all seats and interior carpets to find yet more wiring thta we can only describe as botched.nnAfter about 15hrs of work stripping the car, tracing where the wires went, tracing where the dead shorts were coming from (mostly live wiring which had not been isolated correctly) we have now started to fit everything back.nnAs for the oil leaks, we will have to remove the engine yet to fully assess.nnOne of the small finishing jobs was to fix a faulty speedo. Our thoughts so far is that the cause is the gear drive failing in the gear box, so that will have to be addressed upon removal of the engine.nnYet another interesting fault is that the tachometer does not read correctly! We will need to look at what we can do to sort that out yet, but we have plenty of things on our hands with this car yet!nnAll in all an interesting project that will take a lot of time to sort out, but one that will be well worth it once finished to a good standard.nnWe will keep you posted as the project continues!
